New Albums to Watch Out For
This week’s post on Westminster Towers Blog goes out to all those music lovers in our Tacoma, WA apartment community. Have you ever been anxious to know when one of your favorite artists was going to release a new album? Instead of leaving you to wonder, we’re here to share some highly-anticipated albums that have been released recently or will be released before the summer is over. Watch out for new albums from the following artists:
Vampire Weekend - May 3rd
When was the last time you thought about Vampire Weekend? Known for their hits like “Horchata”, “A-Punk”, and “Diane Young”, this upbeat indie rock band hasn’t released an album since 2013, and after years of hinting at new music, their latest album, Father of the Bride, is out as of earlier this month! While this album shows a lot of growth and evolution from the band, you’ll be sure to find the touch that makes Vampire Weekend unique.
Carly Rae Jepsen - May 17th
You may think of Carly Rae Jepsen for her bubblegum pop hit “Call Me Maybe”, but after her album Emotion in 2015, she gained a prominent spot in the world of pop as an artist that more mature audiences can enjoy as well. As of last Friday, Jepsen’s fourth studio album, entitled Dedicated, is out wherever music is sold or streamed. After catchy singles like “Now That I Found You” and “No Drug Like Me,” we think this album has potential to live up to her last!
Chance the Rapper - July
With his third mixtape Coloring Book, Chancelor Jonathan Bennet, also known as Chance the Rapper, is the first artist ever to win a Grammy for an album released exclusively on streaming services. Since earlier this year, Chance has been consistently referring to the month of July in relation to the release of his next album, and it has fans more excited than ever. If you aren’t familiar with Chance the Rapper yet, make sure to spend some time listening to “Same Drugs,” “Juke Jam,” “Angels,” and “No Problem.”
Lana Del Rey - TBA
Queen of cinematically tragic tunes, Lana Del Rey has promised fans another album in 2019, hinting at a release date during the first half of the year. Made famous through singles like “Video Games,” “Blue Jeans,” and “Summertime Sadness,” Rey has continued to create artistic and stylized albums since going viral in 2011. While we know relatively little about the album so far — we don’t even know for certain if her recent singles will be on it — she has confirmed that the title of her sixth album will be Normal F**king Rockwell.
