Thanksgiving Meal

Thanksgiving is at the end of November, and the food is the highlight of the holiday. Since family and friends gather together to give thanks and share a meal, we’ve decided to share with you some Thanksgiving dish recipes in this week’s Westminster Towers Blog. Skillet Cornbread


  • 6 tbsp. unsalted butter, divided

  • 1 c. all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled

  • 1 3/4 c. self-rising white cornmeal mix, spooned and leveled

  • 2 tbsp. sugar

  • 2 1/3 c. Buttermilk

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 tsp. Freshly ground black pepper

Enjoy this recipe for a delicious skillet cornbread that would be perfect for your Thanksgiving meal spread. Rich and buttery with some light pepper on top, this cornbread is a good country style side that would pair well with your traditional Thanksgiving fare.


Sourdough and Mushroom Stuffing


  • 2 tbsp. unsalted butter

  • 1 lb. assorted wild mushrooms (such as shiitake, oyster, and cremini)

  • 9 stalk celery

  • 2 medium onions

  • salt

  • Freshly ground pepper

  • 1 loaf sourdough bread

  • 1 1/2 c. low-sodium chicken broth

  • 1/2 c. chopped flat-leaf parsley

  • 1 tbsp. chopped fresh thyme

  • 1 tbsp. chopped fresh sage

  • 1 tsp. chopped fresh rosemary

Who doesn’t love stuffing? Whether alone or paired with some delicious turkey, you can indulge on this delicious Thanksgiving side dish. With as much sourdough and mushrooms as there are in this dish, you’re sure to fall into a food coma when you’re done!    


Chocolate-Chunk Pecan Pie


  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour

  • salt

  • 4 tbsp. unsalted butter

  • 1 stick unsalted butter

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 large egg white

  • 1 c. chopped pecans

  • 4 oz. bittersweet chocolate

  • 1 c. sugar

  • 3/4 c. dark corn syrup

  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

When the meal is finished, it’s normal to have some dessert! Dive into some chocolate, pecan goodness to round out your Thanksgiving meal. Bring this dish to your Thanksgiving dinner as a denouement to a day of giving thanks and gratitude!
